The history of medicine in Tibet has been traced back many hundreds of years. Tibet is called Men-Jong, the Land of Medicine. This painting show the many herbal medications used in Tibetan medicine. Herbal plants have long story in Tibetan Medical History. There were once believed to be more than three hundred species of medicinal plants growing in Tibet, and their supply was plentiful. Using the medical Thangka charts to show the causes and changes of illnesses, doctors could prescribe the right medicine. Four big trees represented the Tibetan medical tradition.
